The Office for the Protection of Children and Young People (OFPCYP) for the Diocese of Rockville Centre was established in 2003 in response to the document published by The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops: The Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.
With the issuance of the Charter, the Bishops of the United States established standards that were to be implemented in every diocese throughout the country to insure that the most vulnerable would be safe in our Church. For more information on this subject, click here.
Christ the King is making every effort towards full compliance with the Charter and diocesan Child Protection policies. All church personnel, volunteers, and those serving in ministry are required to sign a code of conduct, complete a background screening form, and attend a child abuse prevention and awareness training session called VIRTUS. This is mandatory and no one is exempt.
Together as clergy, pastoral staff and volunteers in ministry, we must hold fast to the ongoing commitment to protect God’s children. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
